Funny People: Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Betty White and Tracy Morgan

Two of the funniest people are on their way to The Oprah Show together—Steve Carell and Tina Fey! Plus, Tracy Morgan and the unstoppable Betty White.
This is the tapping we attended on Saturday.   This show airs on Tuesday, April 6th.  So tune in, who knows- you just might see us?

"Chi-Town"- Here We Come...

We fly out tomorrow morning and will be there till Sunday. We are staying downtown off Michigan Avenue (AKA- Magnificent Mile). Our plans include Navy Pier, Millennium Park, Wrigley Field, Deep Dish Pizza, Willis Tower, and last but not least…The Oprah Winfrey Show. The taping is on Saturday, April 3. Before the show we will be seeing the movie Date Night, starring Steve Carell and Tina Fey. We will board buses at 7:30 AM- (Yikes that’s early) to go to the movie theater and later come back to the studio for the taping. Steve Carell and Tina Fey are on the show that day. I will let you know when it is supposed to air on TV.

I am really excited for our trip to Chicago. Jody and I have not been on vacation since our Honeymoon, so we’re really looking forward to getting away and spending time together. I will take tons of pictures and post about our fun trip once we return!

I have always been a huge fan of the Oprah Show and I have always begged Jody to take me to see it. This year it has been more important since she is taping her last season and going off the air. We have been trying to get tickets for a while now, which is not the easiest thing to get since the demand for reservations far exceed the supply. The process takes patients since you have to submit a request during a one day window that occurs only a few times each year. Last month I was excited to get our names submitted for the slightest chance to be picked for tickets in the lottery system. Good news came from that request. Yesterday Jody emailed me that our reservation request has been selected ! I was at work when I read the email and started jumping up and down screaming! :) Everyone was startled by my excitement, but everyone is thrilled for me since they know what a huge fan I am. We fly to Chicago at the end of March and the taping is on March 31st! I can't wait!!

Snip Snip!!!

I have been wanting to cut my hair so bad although Jody really likes it long, its been hard to convince him. I got a great idea that I have always wanted to do and I talked to him and he thought it would be cool. Today I am donating my hair to locks of love!

Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.

The children who receive these hairpieces have lost more than their hair; they suffer from a loss of self. Many children have been teased by classmates and/or embarrassed by the attention they receive because of their hair loss. They often will withdraw from normal childhood activities such as swimming, going to the mall or even playing with their friends. While wearing a hairpiece is certainly not a cure for these children, it can help restore some of the normalcy to their everyday lives that most of us take for granted.

Hey there delilah...

Jody took me to Build-A-Bear for Valentines. I have always wanted to go since I have never been. Every time we pass by the store it looks like so much fun to create your own stuffed animal. We actually went on Valentines Day last Saturday and the wait to get in was two hours, with a long line out the door! Who would have thought that? We determined that was crazy and would go back another day, therefore we went this weekend. We spent quite a bit of time waiting in line, but it was not terrible for a Saturday.
I had fun picking out my bunny and dressing her. She also has a heartbeat and a message from Jody when you squeeze her hand. I was impressed with how many different outfits and accessories you can pick from.
Those of you with kids are probably pros here -Jody and I were a bit misplaced on the whole process. We enjoyed it though.

Feeding The Wild

If you have never fed wild animals at a zoo, you should if you get the opportunity, its quite humorous!

A few weekends ago we went to Arbuckle Wilderness, which is about an hour south of OKC. It was crazy! The animals will steal your feeding bucket or rob you of all your food! I think I got more food in Jody's car than I fed to the animals. I remember a camel snuck up on me while I wasn't paying attention, when I turned to look out the window and he was in my face and we were touching noses- AHHH! Thats how most of my food flew all over the car. He scared the crud out of me. (Ha-ha-ha) We had a lot of fun and were all quite amused!

I had two desires while we were in California- One was to go to the beach, which I will post pictures soon and the other was see the Hollywood Sign.

It was more difficult to get to sign then I ever imagined. We had a bit of trouble finding it at first, so we decided to put 'Hollywood Sign' in the GPS and guess what, it worked. We were both laughing, cause it was literally trying to take us to the actual sign thru all these neighborhoods so when we got close enough we decided that it was a good enough spot for some pics.

We had an interesting time taking each other's pics trying to get the sign in there, but after a lot of practice runs we figured it out. We also saw a few tourist taking pics and got a family on vacation from Germany to take a pic of us both. We tried to talk to them a bit, but they barely knew any English.

Today Jody & I leave for LA!!! I'm so excited I can hardly stand it- I'm sure I will take lots of picture and post them when we return :)

Take me out to the ballgame...

I finally made it to see the Rangers play in Arlington, TX. A few weekends ago Jody bought tickets to see the Rangers take on the Blue Jays....

The stadium was really cool, I was quite impressed. Jody & I got there early to see some of the Mercy Me concert, but it was so hot (imagine: August heat at 6PM in Dallas) so, we only watched them play a few songs then walked around the ball park in the shade and some air conditioned spots. The game was fun and there were some pretty exciting plays and even a few annoying hecklers, who everyone was make fun of. They made the experience even better, needless to say we had a good time at the ball park!

Live blues in the heart of Bricktown

Saturday we ate at Toby Keith’s for the 1^st time, for Traci’s B-day. I was not impressed at all, but i wanted to go b/c it was on my life list and it was Traci’s B-day. I was disappointed with the food- it was just OK and quite expensive, although the atmosphere is neat.

After dinner we went to the Blues Fest held in a large parking lot outside. Last year we caught the very end, so I defiantly wanted to check it out this year. There was quite an interesting crowd, so I got to people watch a bit. You can only imagine biker type people and much more or should I say a bit more revealing. The concert was pretty crowded with nowhere to sit but in the back. As the night went on we snagged some chairs as people left. We ended up with pretty good seats closer to the stage where we could actually see. The bands we saw were pretty talented, I had fun and it was a good night!

Cafe do Brasil

I accomplished an item on my life list this past week. Lee, a coworker of ours took Stancie and I to a Brazilian food restaurant here in OKC. I ordered the Brazilian chicken with black beans & rice. It was pretty good, but the sauce served on the side was a little too hot for me- wow! Their desserts looked awesome, but we were too full to try any, maybe next time. I was quite impressed with everything and the atmosphere was a bit different, so I enjoyed that also. I will absolutely go back because i want dine upstairs on the patio looking over the city, sounds awesome.

Opening Day on the Oklahoma River

Last Saturday, March 31st- Carrie and I went to Opening day of the Oklahoma River at the Chesapeake Boathouse in downtown OKC. The rowing instructors were offering free rowing lessons. While there we were instructed on the technique and several rowing terms. It was my first time to ever go kayaking and dragon boating which were both fun. We had a blast and it was such a gorgeous day after all the rain we had got for the last week straight. It was nice to see the sun again! We were a bit scared it was going to get rained out.
