1st ever playoff series victory in OKC Thunder History- Playoffs 2011

What can you say after that.....Unthinkable? Unbelievable? Astonishing? Surreal!!!!
The crowd in the last 3 minutes, so loud we couldn’t even hear the announcers in the arena last night!

We just watched one of those games where you’ll be talking to a friend in 25 years and say, “How about that Game 5 against Denver where Durant scored 41?” We just watched a amazing moment, the type of thing that you can only hope happens to your team. It’s the type of thing we all dreamed about when we got the NBA three years ago.

Recap: The Thunder down 9 with a little more than three minutes left. It felt like Game 4 all over again. The team was out of sync the entire night offensively and was barely in it because of the free throw line. The Nuggets offense was working well and they were hitting shots. They had the Thunder stunned and hanging on to the ropes. This series was about to be packed up and back to Denver for a Game 6. And things were about to get really scary. My thoughts were, We can’t lose at home, we just can’t!  Come on KD make a move, and he did.  Thanks to KD he saved our game! 
Kevin Durant scored 16 of his 41 in the fourth quarter, including the Thunder’s last nine to carry us to our first playoff win, 100-97 in five games over the Nuggets.  The best game I have ever attended in my life- Thunder UP!

It was Big Monday alright!

One of the best games I have seen was Monday night when Oklahoma Women's Basketball took on Tennessee at the Ford Center. Alisha got tickets from a co-worker at Chesapeake. (I love that she works there, she gets us tickets all the time!) Not only did we get to watch the game in a great section, we had Row A seats, which was crazy! Our seats were so good we almost couldn't see over the people with floor seats, but it was great anyways!

+Candice- I did not think to look till mid game and saw Mark across the court from us announcing. After that I recognized his voice- kinda funny. He does a good job at that!

Big Monday a Big Hit

-- Monday's women's basketball matchup between Oklahoma and Tennessee on ESPN2 was the highest rated "Big Monday" telecast in history.

There were plenty of storylines entering the game as No. 2 Oklahoma halted Pat Summitt's quest for 1,000 victories with its 80-70 win. The broadcast garnered a 1.0 rating and was viewed by an average of 940,000 households, the most viewed matchup in the history of the prime time, game-of-the-week series, according to Nielsen Media Research.

The Big Monday telecast also featured college basketball Hall of Famers Bob Knight and Nancy Lieberman sharing analyst duties with ESPN men's college basketball telecast partner Brent Musburger and sideline reporter Holly Rowe.

The game, held at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City, was attended by 12,552 fans who witnessed history live as the Sooners turned a 15-pointed deficit into an 18-point lead to cruise to victory for the first time over the Lady Vols.

Saturday we drove down to Norman and went to our very 1st OU Basketball game. We have wanted to go for a long time and our schedule finally made it possible. The Sooners pulled a 93-62 win over Coppin State, although Coppin State (2-11) did not figure to present a challenge for Oklahoma, we still enjoyed the game and appreciated watching Blake Griffin in person. Jody hopes the Thunder will draft him and I’m sure numerous OKC basketball fans anticipate that happening.

I almost forgot to tell you about the halftime show. I think it was one of the most bizarre things I have ever seen for a halftime. There were Irish dancers doing the traditional dance with there leg kicks and strolls. They were very good- it was just quite different. I didn't expect that for the half time show. Glad we were there to see it with our own eyes.

Thunder Warm up

Sunday night we went to our 1st Okc Thunder basketball game, which was game 2 of the season. The Thunder played the Minnesota Timberwolves. It was a very close and exciting game towards the end. The Thunder won the game 88-85. Jody and I had a great time and have decided were going to try to be fans of the basketball team. I know they have a lot of young players, but I am hoping in a few years they will become a good team!

Tailgating in Norman

Saturday night before the game in Norman against Nebraska Cornhuskers. We got to see the Pride of Oklahoma march down the street! We also took a few pictures I will share.

Seemed like the game was over before it began. Quarterback Sam Bradford had 311 yards in passing and 5 touchdowns. OU capitalized on 3 disastrous Nebraska pass plays in the opening minutes to the beat the Huskers 62-28. This was the sooners largest score in the history of the storied rivalry with Nebraska.

The half time show are really neat, they had invited all players, coaches, trainers who played in "The Game of the Century" to honor both teams. The 1971 remarkable Thanksgiving Day shootout at Owen Field. They announced every player and had them out on the field.

During 4th quarter we were more interested to see the Texas/Tech game, so we left early to catch the last 5 minutes of the game, wow was that a great game or what!!! Tech beat No.1 Texas in the final seconds of the game! Awesome...

Red River Shootout

Oklahoma's annual rivalry game against Texas will be played tomorrow at 11 a.m. it should be a good game, so be sure to tune in! Both teams are undefeated, ranked in the top five in the nation and feature Heisman Trophy-contending quarterbacks. I can't wait!!! I am going down to Dallas to meet Jody for the weekend.

Also, when things go well for the Sooners this weekend, the Oklahoma football team will have the opportunity of hanging a very special honor on the Texas Longhorns.

According to the stats gurus at The Oklahoman, OU will need to score only 10 points to become the first school in college football history to score 30,000 points. The Sooners already lead the nation in points scored all-time, at 29,990.

So... if Stoops has his way, they should be collecting a very special game ball sometime in the first quarter of Saturday's rivalry matchup!

Take me out to the ballgame...

I finally made it to see the Rangers play in Arlington, TX. A few weekends ago Jody bought tickets to see the Rangers take on the Blue Jays....

The stadium was really cool, I was quite impressed. Jody & I got there early to see some of the Mercy Me concert, but it was so hot (imagine: August heat at 6PM in Dallas) so, we only watched them play a few songs then walked around the ball park in the shade and some air conditioned spots. The game was fun and there were some pretty exciting plays and even a few annoying hecklers, who everyone was make fun of. They made the experience even better, needless to say we had a good time at the ball park!

Lets Go Redhawks.....

Last weekend we went to a baseball game and watched the Redhawks take on Round Rock, which is the Astro's minor league team. The Redhawks won and are leading the PCL American South! The game was fun!

After the game we took a few pictures by the fountain in front of the Harkins Movie Theater. I love fountains!!!

Yard Doggs

I got to go to my 1st Arena Football game last weekend. Our seats were right behind the field goal on the 2nd row, which was perfect. Below you can see how good our seats were. It was a good game and The Yard Dawgz won the game! I can't wait to go again sometime. A friend of mine Jason from high school/college, came down with a bunch of friends and bought my ticket, we all had a blast!

Rangers vs White Sox

A couple of weekends ago we saw The Texas Rangers here at the Bricktown Ball Park. We froze our tails off because it was so cold, it would not have been too bad if the wind was not blowing so hard. It was so chilly that we didn't end up staying for the whole game, but I'm glad we went!

I remember the last game we went to was in Kansas City, when the Royals played the Rangers and it was so hot I thought I was going to pass out. I wish I could go to one game where the weather is tolerable - thats my goal. :)

OU vs Missouri

It was an exciting night game & the weather was quite nice. We got tickets on the 54th row- great seats even though we had to stand the whole time. Jody & I meet up with a friend of his that he went to jr. high with. We had a good time & his friend Tom was lots of fun. The game was close but good- thank goodness a victory 41-31...

Sooners win BIG!!!

OU's 1st game for the '07 season was a blow out, beating North Texas 79 - 10. Although the game seemed over in the 1st quarter, it was still a fun time. We took a few fun pictures as we were passing by campus corner. AKA Jody Patrick & April Stoops... :)

Kansas City Royals vs Texas Rangers

Unfortunately folks i am sad to say that I might be forced into becoming a Texas Rangers fan. As you can tell I am not too happy about this, but my boyfriend thinks I need to convert. Baseball is great to watch live, but not so much on the screen of a TV (my personal opinion). So, for Jody's sake will say I'm a rangers fan at the games....the things we do for the people we care about- (ha, ha, ha)
Here are a few shots of the ballpark in Kansas City. We went to a night and day game this weekend. We had a good time even though it was terribly HOT and sticky on Sunday afternoon!!!

Redhawks Baseball Game

The Nashville Sounds played Oklahoma City Redhawks in The Bricktown Ball Park on Saturday. The Redhawks didn't bring home a win, but it was a pretty good game. We also got to see a short fireworks show afterwards. It weather was so HOT at 1st, but then turned into a beautiful night-!!!

My Aunt Caroline got us tickets to see the Houston Astros VS. Cincinnati Reds. It was a close game at the end. We had a good time!!!
