Our 1st stop in Austin was the Zilker Botanical Gardens. The gardens were beautiful and best of all Free! I think this was my favorite place in Austin.

Spring Break- Austin Bound
Part II I am just now getting a chance to post all of the pictures we took in Austin, so to catch anyone up- last month after visiting family in Houston, Jody and I drove from Houston to Austin, TX. I had never been to Austin before & I really enjoyed our stay there, its such a cool town.
Jody & I stayed 2 nights right off the river, close to 6th street. We went to the State Capitol, Botanical Gardens, A sculpture Garden, A cavern, and I also got to meet a friend of Jody's that was in the air force with him.
It was a great get away and I loved Austin's town slogan
"Keep Austin Wierd".
A few pictures we took as we were walking around the river in Austin.

Texas Capitol
The Texas Capitol is the largest state capitol in the U.S. We saw it all, from the senate chamber, the legislative chamber, the supreme courtroom, the secretary of state's office and much more. This place was huge. We went in every room and all the way to the top. Pretty impressive.Inside the Capitol-

After touring the Texas State Capitol we went to The Capitol Visitor's Center,which is oldest state office building in Texas. Inside there are lots of learning exhibits and Texas memorabilia.

Garden of Art
We got some of Austin's cultural landscape at
The Umlauf Sculpture Garden. All the sculptures were sculpted by a man named Charles Umlauf. The garden inside and out, displays approximately 130 sculptures, some quite unusual. In 1991 Charles and his wife Angeline donated their home, studio, and 168 pieces of sculpture to the City of Austin.
