While in Lafayette a few weeks ago i got the chance to eat at The Blue Dog Café. This restaurant has something no other restaurant in the world does - walls covered with humorous, colorful paintings of a curious blue dog.
Blue Dog is owned by Rodrigue an artist who paints almost exclusively blue dogs and Cajun scenes so his paintings are hung all throughout the restaurant. Over 150 painting cover the walls in the restaurant, but are not for sale; they are actually part of the artist’s personal collection on loan to the restaurant. What makes Blue Dog Café a great place is the food. The menu features a number of award-winning Cajun recipes.
I was feeling brave and tried fried crab claws, crayfish, and grilled cajun crab. They really wanted me to try the crab bisque, but i had to drawl the line somewhere! Anyone who knows me well know that this was a big leap on my comfort level with seafood. I was very impressed that i liked most of it!!! It was a great cajun experience with a co-worker from Mississippi and another from Alabama- they said it was just like home cook'n in south! :)
